Sol.One about the growing share of defensetech in Belgium. (Trends)
Sol.One was featured in the article by Trends about the growing share of defensetech in Belgium.
Due to geopolitical instability, the defense market is on the rise. Start-ups and scale-ups in Belgium are starting to cautiously enter the defense market, while defense technology has been well established in de United States. Yet there remains a stigma around working for defense, making it difficult for such companies to secure capital. Sol.One mainly operates in civil aviation – both traditional passenger aircraft, drones and electric aircraft – but occasionally takes on work with a defense focus too. “The military also serves as a research and development hub for technology, from which civilian applications may also benefit. In Belgium, that’s not really elaborated on, and that’s a shame,” states our founder and CEO @Filip Verhaeghe. After all, civilian technology often stems from the defense market. Inventions such as the Internet, the GPS and even smartphones originate from military research.

The iMUGS project: from ground robots to unmanned air taxis (De Tijd)
Our founder and CEO Filip Verhaeghe was interviewed by De Tijd – the leading financial newspaper in Belgium – about the landmark European innovation program iMUGS.
A program designed for the development of autonomous land vehicles to carry out their mission individually but also, critically, managed as a fleet. We summarized the article in English for our foreign followers. Read more about our participation in the European innovation project and how this will ultimately help us to make Urban Air Mobility a reality.

Singapore Airshow 2022
Every two years, high-level government and military delegations, as well as senior corporate executives around the world attend the Singapore Airshow to forge partnerships and seal deals in this region. As Asia’s largest Airshow, this is the place to be for leading aerospace companies and budding players eager to make their mark in the international aerospace and defence market!
The event offers a unique platform for industry thought leadership through its high-level conference, forums and co-located events. Leading industry players, government and military chiefs gather here bi-annually to contribute to dialogues, exchange ideas and seek solutions and strategies to advance the interests of the global aerospace and defence sector.
What's NXT in Bruges
The event takes place in the brand new Beurs- en Congresgebouw in Bruges, in cooperation with VRT, Voka West-Vlaanderen, POM West-Vlaanderen, Province of West-Vlaanderen and the City of Bruges. Under the heading 'What's NXT', the organisation wants to show, together with MNM and VRT, which innovations and technologies are emerging in our West Flanders companies. They want to bring positive stories about work and inspire young people about the future of the labour market.
Weiss Technik Climate Chamber
This climate chamber from Weisstechnik allows us to test behaviour in extreme environmental conditions. We can expose our technology to temperatures ranging from -70°C up till 180°C or humidity levels between 10%-95% RH to ensure it works in every possible situation.
Weiss Technik is the market leader and one of the most innovative manufacturers of environmental simulation systems. With these testing systems, they can simulate all climatic conditions around the globe and beyond, under accelerated conditions. Whether temperature, climate, corrosion, dust or combined shock testing: they have the proper solution. They supply systems in all sizes, from standard versions up to customised, process-integrated facilities – for high reproducibility and precise test results. We're very happy to work with such a professional partner.
A record-breaking 17th edition of the Dubai Airshow
The Dubai Airshow is known to be one of the fastest growing global aerospace events.
Professionals from all across the world gathered in Dubai to network, discuss and analyse what the future of the global aerospace industry holds.
More information and videos on the Dubai Airshow can be found on their website: https://www.dubaiairshow.aero/
Elbit Systems
The Elbit Hermes 900 Starliner, a fixed-wing aircraft with a wingspan of 15 meter, is the first unmanned aircraft with Type-1 certification in Europe.
It flies beyond line of sight over populated areas for policing and search-and-rescue missions. Sol provides all certified visualization in its ground station (PFD/ND, EICAS and commanding), as well as terrain awareness (TAWS) and flight path validation.
Dynali
Dynali is the European leading supplier of ultra-light helicopters.
It uses Sol to provide a certified autopilot and flight management system (FMS), making the pilot optional. The resulting aircraft is easier to fly as manned aircraft or can be used as a flying platform for inspection and agriculture applications.
